PM says opponents take democracy for granted

KASUR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was demeaning the same democracy which allowed him to protest on the streets.

He was addressing a large crowd of people on Saturday at Phool Nagar. "Imran Khan has never seen jail. We have fought a military dictator. Spent time in prison and exile, all for the sake of democracy."

He said he was overjoyed seeing a sea of people today. "Our opponents take two months to plan such rallies," he said in another jibe at Imran Khan.

He claimed that Pakistan today was much better than it was in 2013. "The Pakistan of 2018 will be much better than it is now."

He vowed that by 2018 load shedding will come to an end. "Not only that electricity will also become cheaper," he said.

He said he was working day and night for the development of Pakistan.

He added that in 1998 his government was overthrown. "The motorway we had begun constructed was left as it is. Why does only Nawaz Sharif begin development projects? Because we feel your pain," he said.
